ONLINE auction site Trade Me has launched a travel category which will work in tandem with its accommodation site Travelbug.

Called “travel, events & activities”, it will allow auctions on anything travel or tourism-related.

Alex Fala, head of Trade Me Travel, said Trade Me had previously had tickets, occasional flights and accommodation products scattered across the site.

“This is kind of bringing it all together,” he said. “It was an opportunity that we saw.

“We’ve been investing very heavily in building our overall travel business and this was one of the things that we felt that we could do that nobody else could do.
